Special Class inclusive Practice and Organisation

This practical, school led webinar explores how post-primary schools can organise and deliver effective support for students in special classes. This webinar will be introduced by Paul Fields, Director of Schools in ETBI and chaired by Dr Johanna Fitzgerald, ETBI National Coordinator for Inclusion, Special Education and Research. Helen Cadogan, Principal in St Brogan’s College, Bandon, Peter Creedon, Principal in Coláiste Dún Iascaigh, Cahir and Fiona Greene, ETBI, seconded from her role as SENCO in Coláiste Dún Iascaigh, Cahir, will  share examples of special class organisational structures, examples of inclusive and flexible timetabling approaches, collaborative deployment of teachers and SNAs, and whole school systems for meeting the needs of autistic students and other learners with additional needs. Shirley Murphy, Senior SEN Inspector with the Department of Education and Youth will lead a panel discussion on the topic. The webinar is designed for post-primary principals, deputy principals, SENCOs, and autism class coordinators.
