Education and Training Boards Ireland (ETBI) on behalf of the 16 Education and Training Boards (ETBs) have established a new national directory of External Authenticators (EAs) for Further Education and Training programmes.

The External Authenticator provides independent confirmation of fair and consistent assessment of learners in accordance with QQI requirements and reports on consistency of assessment results with national standards.

An informative online briefing event is currently available on the ETBI website, in which the requirements for the role and the application process will be explained.

Previous External Authentication experience is desirable but not essential. Interested individuals should have experience of delivering or assessing programmes leading to QQI awards, or associated industry expertise (5 years).

This EA Directory will serve those services in Education and Training Boards providing programmes leading to QQI awards.

Updated Information-for-Prospective-External-Authenticators

Please note that the ETBI External Authenticator National Directory is currently on hold for recruitment and training, with the exception of the following specialised field areas which are being prioritised:  engineering, hairdressing, barbering, wind turbine, craft butchery, equine studies, animal care, outdoor education, professional catering, sports & fitness, arboriculture, agriculture, and those who can authenticate in the Irish language across broad field areas.  If your specialism does not include the above, we thank you for your interest and hope that you will revisit the site at a future date.  For any queries, please contact us at externalauthentication@etbi.ie
